Bring on the Fourth, Fun and Festivities

Celebrating the red, white, and blue

Freedom, fireworks, and fun – this is how to celebrate America’s birthday. Some of us go to the beach, while we ooh and aah as the fireworks dazzle over the ocean. Others may enjoy hot dogs on the grill and playing cornhole with family and friends while donning our red, white, and blue garb.

Fun Facts:

    • John Adams believed that July 2nd was the correct date on which to celebrate the birth of America’s independence, and would reportedly turn down invitations to appear at July 4th events in protest.
    • John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826 – the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
    • America’s 30th president, Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4, 1872.
    • An estimated 150 million hot dogs will be consumed on July 4th.
    • The oldest continuous Independence Day celebration in the United States is the 4th of July parade in Bristol, Rhode Island; it began in 1785.
