Back in late October, my husband and I took a weekend getaway to the hillside town of Temecula. With its award-winning wineries and great restaurants, Temecula is the perfect resort destination. We went during the end of Harvest Season. Harvest – or “crush” as it is sometimes called- usually falls between August and October.
Our first stop was Miramonte Winery. Miramonte winery and estate vineyard is located in the heart of the valley. We did a two hour tour which included wine tasting at every stop. What a great way to begin our weekend. We even joined their wine club! It was such a beautiful sunny day that when the tour ended, we sat on their veranda sipping more wine and enjoying the gorgeous wine country ambiance.
Our next stop was where we were staying – Ponte Vineyard Inn. Also located in the heart of the Temecula Wine Country, it is surrounded by 300 acres of vineyard and views of the rolling hills. It is a Spanish-style Inn with dining, cocktails, a pool, fitness room and of course, tasting room. When we sat outside on the grounds, we were able to kick back, relax and enjoy the surroundings. The resort was even setting up for a wedding. What an amazing venue!
This definitely will not be our last time to Temecula. With over 40 different wineries in the Valley, we plan on visiting a different one each time we go. On the list for next time is:
- Callaway Vineyard & Winery
- Hart winery
- Europa Village Winery
Of course, we had to bring home a few bottles of wine. A couple bottles for us to enjoy and one for our neighbor. When we gave them the bottle, we attached a Penless Wine Tag. When they scanned the QR code, they saw a picture of the winery where the wine is from. They loved it. What a unique way to give a bottle of wine!
