Anniversary

My wedding anniversary was last month and I wanted to plan something fun and memorable for my husband and I to do.  We take turns each year planning a weekend and this was my year.  I decided to we would go to Laguna Beach, have a nice dinner at sunset and stay at the Surf and Sand Hotel.   We do go down to Laguna Beach a few times a year so I needed to make this special and not just an ordinary weekend.

For the restaurant, I made reservations at Splashes.  It is located in the Surf and Sand Hotel right on the water.  It is the very definition of beach front.  The restaurant is fabulous and newly renovated.  It has an open and lively atmosphere.  With the windows open, you could hear the sound of the gentle surf and smell the fresh ocean air. The breathtaking views were not the only thing to savor. The food was exquisite, beautifully presented, and the service was impeccable.  It was a romantic evening as we watched the sun set over the pacific from our table.  After dinner, we sat out on the patio and had a cocktail.  The ambiance was perfect for an anniversary weekend.  The ocean goes right up to the wall of the bar.

Splashes restaurant was perfect since we were staying at the Surf and Sand Hotel anyway.  No need to drive and try and find parking.  The hotel was great.  Our room had an oceanfront balcony with more impressive views.  Ordering room service and having breakfast on our balcony with the nothing but ocean in front of us, made me truly feel like we were on vacation hundreds of miles away and not just in the next city.  After breakfast, I had reservations for us to get massages at the spa.  The spa at the Surf and Sand is the epitome of luxury.  We were so relaxed after our massages that I didn’t want to check out.

At the end of our stay, I gave my husband his gifts.  Since I knew we were going to have some great photo opportunities during our weekend in Laguna, I took plenty of pictures on my phone. Before leaving on our weekend trip, I was sure to pack some Penless Go Anywhere stickers.  I uploaded pictures of our weekend onto the QR code of 4 of the Go Anywhere stickers.  One picture was of us at Splashes, one was us at the patio with the sunset and the others were of either of downtown Laguna or the stunning views.  I affixed one sticker onto the card and the other 3 onto the gifts I bought.  Since my husband also has the Penless app, he loved getting the Go Anywhere stickers and scanning the QR code to see the pictures.  It is so fun and so personal.  Penless makes it easy to have lasting memories.
