Healthy Desserts

Are you ever craving a sweet treat after dinner but don’t want the extra sugar or calories that come along with it? For years I have been wanting to find healthier options for a late night treat. Over the past couple months, I have finally decided to dedicate some of my time to finding healthier alternatives! In this blog, I would love to share with everyone easy and healthier options I have found that are just as delicious!

There are two different types of healthy cakes/breads that I like to make every once in a while. The first one is a Lemony Yogurt Pound Cake. This appetizing pound cake has protein-rich Greek yogurt and has fewer calories, fat, and cholesterol than normal pound cake. The process is easy with under an hour of cook time! Click here to get the full recipe. My second favorite is a Marbled Banana Bread. This tasty treat is made with whole wheat flour and a small amount of chocolate for an enjoyable taste. For the full recipe, click here.

For people who love peanut butter and chocolate, I have two recipes for you! The first recipe is Crunchy Peanut Butter Thins. The peanut butter thins have omega-3 fatty acids and only take 30 minutes of cook time! The second chocolate peanut butter recipe I have is the No-Bake Peanut Butter-Chocolate Bars. These delightful bars are low in calories while still satisfying your sweet tooth! Instead of baking these bars, they get chilled for 4 hours in order to get the perfect texture.

This next dessert is super simple and easy with only 15 minutes of prep time total! The dessert is Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches. Although ice cream sandwiches are not that healthy, substituting regular ice cream for light ice cream will help with not only the calories but the sugar as well. These are also particularly small considering the two cookies surrounding the ice cream are vanilla wafer cookies. Additional add-ons to the ice cream sandwiches could be adding almonds or mini chocolate chips to the outside of the sandwich.

The last healthier alternative for a dessert is a Broiled Banana Split. This one is a little fancier so I saved it for the end. On this banana split, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt is added followed with a scoop of light ice cream. To top it off, almonds, raspberries, and chocolate shavings are sprinkled on the dessert.

Everything mentioned in this blog would be great to have for either movie nights, get together with friends, or even on a regular night. Penless has a variety of stickers to choose from, but when I am having movie nights with my friends, I love to invite them over with the Star Sticker Pack.  On the star stickers, I love to put a sneak peek on what dessert I will be serving that night. Penless makes gatherings more fun!
